Dorothy M. Catlin, 93 of Macon, passed away at 10:03 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Eastern Star Home, Macon.
A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday November 27, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL.
Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at Noon on Sunday until service time at the funeral home. Dorothy will have an Eastern Star service at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, just prior to her funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Eastern Star Home, P.O. Box 317, Macon, IL 62544. Dorothy was born January 31, 1918 in Austin Township, IL the daughter of J. Earl and Lillian Isabelle (Buckley) Major. She was a graduate of Warrensburg High School at the age of 16. She married Lynn E. Catlin on April 19, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1986. She had worked for WTVP Television Station in their offices. She then worked at the University of New Mexico as an administrative assistant to the Administrator of Education. She went on to work in the Lima Ohio School System as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools.
Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Illini Chapter #813. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children: Janet Murphy and her husband John of Decatur, Gary Catlin and his wife Pat of Boise, Idaho, Kathleen Rivera and her husband Julio of Los Altos, California, and J. Brent Catlin and his wife Cathy of Surprise, Arizona; grandchildren: Mark, Shari, Shawn, Lynn, Andrea, Marla, Eric, Brett, and Erin; great grandchildren: Ryan, Allison, Kenneth, Nicholas, Jonathan, Danielle, Maya, Sophie, Alex, and Joaquin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, two sisters, and her grandson: Chris.
